Gallup Poll: Only 16% of Americans Have 'Confidence' in Internet News

INJOOn Wednesday, Gallup released the latest results of a poll that it does each year to determine the trust that Americans have in different news mediums. The poll does not deal with individual outlets, just their methods of distribution. And according to the recent poll, the news medium that Americans have the least confidence in is the internet.

When asked, “Please tell me how much confidence you, yourself, have in news on the internet — a great deal, quite a lot, some or very little?” as part of the poll, just 16% of Americans answered “a great deal” or “quite a lot.” This is down from 19% in 2014 and even 21% in 1999, which was early in the modern internet and personal computing boom.

As for the longer incumbent popular news mediums, television and newspapers, confidence in both was low.
