In preparation for a flood of holiday orders (which have already begun), retail giant Amazon.com has been updating their technology in order to more efficiently train their warehouse employees, shrinking the training time to just two days.

By saving time in training, Amazon saves money, which could mean higher employee wages as the company hopes to expand the workforce within its U.S. warehouses by 40%. They would be adding 120,000 temp workers for the peak sales season of November and December.

This could give Amazon an edge in the competitive labor pool as they compete with other retail and delivery services like United Parcel Service Inc. and Wal-Mart. The use of robots, scanners, touch screens, and other technology in Amazon's newest facilities has already proven to be a huge advantage in getting workers up to speed. Looks like Amazon is prepared for a successful holiday season of shopping!
