2020, the year of everything virtual!
Due to the ongoing pandemic, New York City's annual New Year's Eve celebration is set to be virtual this year. The usual big- ball drop party where millions of visitors join together to ring in the new year, will be looking a little different.
According to Tim Tompkins, who is the Times Square Alliance President, he stated "This year there will be significantly new and enhanced virtual, visual and digital offerings to complement whatever limited live entertainment or experiences — still in development — will take place in Times Square. The world desperately needs to come together symbolically and virtually to celebrate the people and things we love and to look forward with a sense of renewal and new beginnings."
