Firefighters say they've halted the advance of a brush fire out near Griffith Park. The fire has currently charred at least 30 acres in some very heavy brush with "steep and very difficult terrain" officials say and is currently 60 percent contained.
Trails near the fire zones have been closed to the public, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
For now, winds do not appear to be a factor in driving or stoking the fire at this time. No structures have been burned, and one minor injury has been reported. The firefight involves 125 firefighters so far, the LAFD said.
Officials with the L.A. Zoo said several small primates and some birds have been evacuated from the zoo. Other animals are being prepared to move in case it becomes necessary.
Road closures and freeway off-ramps have been re-opened, authorities said.
The blaze erupted early Friday morning as two major fires were burning at the Los Angeles-Ventura county line. So far, the Woolsey Fire has burned 14,000 acres and destroyed several structures. That fire is currently zero percent contained.
