Justin Bieber Addresses 'Racism,' Apologizes For Past 'Hurtful' Comments

Celebrity Sightings In New York City - May 09, 2019

Justin Bieber has apologized for the racially-insensitive remarks he's made in hopes of inspiring fans to fight racism. Last night (December 3), the “Cold Water” crooner took to Instagram with a graphic with a serious message: “STAND AGAINST RACISM.”

The 25-year-old went on to elaborate his message in the caption of the post, in which he confesses he was ignorant and “uneducated” about the impact his words might have on others who took offense to his past use of the N-word.

“When I was young I was uneducated and found myself saying really hurtful things not knowing the power of my words,” Bieber explained. “Racism Is still very prevalent and I want to use my voice to remind we are all human being and all of EQUAL VALUE BEFORE GOD!”

Bieber has been embroiled in a number of controversies and accused of racism after being recorded on video using the racial epithet over the years.

You may recall the now-infamous video that surfaced in 2014 showing a 14-year-old Bieber parodying his song “One Less Lonely Girl” with the offensive lyric, “There’ll be one less lonely n—.” In 2016, the musician was slapped with a lawsuit for allegedly assaulting a person and calling them a racial slur following an NBA Finals game in 2016 — the case recently settled in November.
