Former American Idol contestant Steven James recently let the world in on his opinions of Katy Perry's new music, five years after the hitmaker eliminated him from the show.
The singer-songwriter appeared on the beloved series' 17th season in 2019, and it was Perry's vote that ultimately sent him home. The "California Gurls" icon recently gifted fans the deluxe version of her latest album, 143, along with four new tracks including "OK," per Entertainment Weekly.
James took to TikTok on Friday (December 27) to share his thoughts on the single, stating: "This can't be the same person who eliminated me on American Idol 5 years ago." The viral video was paired with audio from the new track as James "grimaced" with each passing second. A few followers agreed with him in the comment section, comparing the song to a PBS intro.
Others stood up for the "Dark Horse" songstress, referring to the track as "really good," with James revealing that it was actually starting to grow on him.
The album, released in September, features standout tracks like "Woman's World," "Lifetimes," and "All The Love," to name only a few masterpieces included on the record.
