Southwest Airlines Will Only Allow Cats And Dogs For Emotional Support

Southwest Airlines now has some new rules.

Passengers will only be allowed to bring cats and dogs on board as emotional support animals starting in September.

Southwest says passengers will need to present a letter from the doctor or licensed mental health professional on the day of departure.

It will also limit the types of trained service animals in the cabin.

Since the beginning of the year, American Airlines, JetBlue, Delta and United have all introduced similar rules to this.

The airline industry called Transportation Department to update its guidelines for animals on planes.
