Anne Hathaway Is Giving Up Drinking For Longer Than Dry January

Many people are participating in "Dry January," where they are giving up drinking in January in order to be more healthy, and just take a break from alcohol.

Anne Hathaway is taking it to another level. The actress has decided to give up drinking for 16 years!

It looks like her Serenity co-star Matthew McConaughey is a little bit to blame for her new sobriety decision.

Serenity was filmed on Mauritius, an island off the eastern coast of Africa. While she was there, Hathaway and McConaughey visited some rum bars on the island, along with McConaughey's wife, Camila Alves.

When Ellen DeGeneres asked how the rum bar tour went, Hathaway laughingly replied, "I don't remember. I have no idea."

After that experience, Hathaway revealed that she stopped drinking in October 2018, and she plans to continue to stay sober until her two-year-old son, Johnathan, turns eighteen.

Way to set a good example mama!
