Lupus LA Helping Angelinos With Lupus Thrive And Conquer

About Lupus

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease where the immune system cannot tell the difference between sick infected cells (viruses, bacteria, germs) and healthy ones. Normally our immune system produces proteins called antibodies that protect the body from these unhealthy cells. However, with lupus, the body gets confused and sometimes attacks the wrong cell.

This means that the body is attacking itself, killing both good and bad cells. Lupus can affect any part of the body, including the skin and major organs, and can cause inflammation, pain, and damage in various parts of the body.

Lupus LA encourages you to explore all of the pages in this section. There is a wealth of information about causes, treatments and living with lupus. If you do not find the information that you are looking for, please contact us and we would be happy to help you.

                                                                         What We Do

Lupus LA has three major areas of focus:

We fund novel medical research to help find the causes of and a cure for lupus with the Lupus Research Institute and through funding a rheumatology fellow at a local Los Angeles area hospital.

We provide a number of patient services to the lupus community in the greater Los Angeles area such as support groups for adults and pediatrics, doctor referrals, patient education and our newly diagnosed patient guide.

We promote awareness about lupus and advocate on a local and national level for better healthcare and government involvement for our lupus population.

July 28 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Michael B. Jordan created MBJAM in 2017 to celebrate family and bring much-needed awareness and funds to Lupus LA.Michael’s mother Donna lives with lupus and has been able to thrive thanks to the care and resources of Lupus LA. But as Michael tells it, lupus affects the entire family. It’s for this reason that Michael established MBJAM – an event designed to transcend the traditional limits of charity events and provide families with a no-frills and unforgettable afternoon of fun.More importantly, MBJAM is a reflection of Michael’s gratitude for the work of Lupus LA and their mission to find the causes of and a cure for lupus while providing support, services and hope to all people affected by lupus. We hope you will join Michael, Donna, and the Jordan family in celebrating the second annual MBJAM!

Thanks to my guest LUPUS LA Chairman Adam Selkowitz...always a pleasure to have him on and support this organization!! Find out more about them here:
