According to Chadwick Boseman's agent, his mother is the reason he kept his cancer a secret.
Michael Greene said that his mother always taught him to never have people fuss over him. He also felt that in the entertainment business, people tend to trip out over things and Boseman was a very private person.
He was intentional about promoting positive images and once even turned down an opportunity to gain equity in a liquor company.
