A Tram To The Hollywood Sign Might Be In The Works

A Tram To The Hollywood Sign Might Be In The Works

Whenever I have visitors from out of town, I always drive them up to take a picture in front of the Hollywood Sign.  Here's a pic of me, my siblings & nephews at the sign back in 2016...

Well now, I may not have to drive people up there anymore...We can take a tram someday...If Warner Bros. Studios has its way.  According to the Los Angeles Times...

Monday, Warner Bros. told Los Angeles city officials it would foot the bill for an aerial tramway to transport visitors to and from the Hollywood sign, starting from a parking structure next to its Burbank lot.  It would be called the Hollywood Skyway and would cost the studio an estimated $100 million. The tramway would take visitors on a 6-minute ride more than 1 mile up the back of Mt. Lee to a new visitors center near the sign, with pathways to a viewing area.

The goal is to give visitors a way to see the sign without driving and hiking through residential neighborhoods, which tends to cause traffic & noise problems.  If the studio gets its way, the project would take about 5 years to complete.

Would you ride it?
