Millions Of Passengers Hit In Worst Ever Airline Data Hack
In a post to social media, Cathay Pacific said, "We have discovered unauthorized access to some of our passenger data. For Data Security Event support, please DM @cxinfosec for assistance." (Twitter)
According to the BBC, passport numbers, email addresses and expired credit card details were among the data leaked in what's being called the worst ever airline data hack. A wide range of personal information was accessed including travel history.
This comes just a few weeks after British Airways also revealed a major data leak had hit its customers.
Chief executive Rupert Hogg apologized and said there was "no evidence" the information had been misused. And reportedly, no passwords were compromised.
