In a press release, Ballast Point announced...
In conjunction with the San Diego Padres, Ballast Point is commemorating the club’s 50th anniversary season in San Diego with the release of Swingin’ Friar Ale – the “Official Craft Beer of the Padres.” The Friar Faithful will find the new brew throughout the greater San Diego area on draft and in six-pack bottles year-round.
Named for the iconic Swingin’ Friar mascot, the beer’s packaging features the Padres’ 50th anniversary logo and the club’s historical brown and gold colors. The 100% Simcoe-hopped brew has aromas of citrus, peach, mellow berry, pine and grapefruit, complemented by a biscuity malt backbone and crisp finish. The hoppy, approachable 5.5% ABV Swingin’ Friar Ale is sure to be a home run this baseball season and beyond.
“In developing Swingin’ Friar Ale with the Padres, we all agreed we wanted to brew an easy-drinking beer that’s perfect for the ball game but still packs the hops San Diego is known for,” Ballast Point VP of Brewing James Murray said. “Ballast Point has called San Diego home for more than 20 years and proudly supports the hometown team.”
