This Is Why You Should Never Print Your Boarding Pass!

If you plan on flying this holiday season, there's one thing you should keep in mind if you print out your boarding pass. When it comes to printing out our boarding pass, it's just part of our pre-flying routine as it's your ticket through security and it's what gets you on the plane. However, it's what you do with your boarding ticket after that could be a problem whether you just throw it away or take a photo of it to post on social media could make you an easy target for hackers. These hackers can potentially get into your frequent flyer account. According to the president and CEO of CynergisTek, Caleb Barlow, says:

“All you need is your name, your booking reference number and your frequent flyer number. All three of those things are on the boarding pass. There could be a couple of basic password reset questions – but I might be able to get the answers to those just by looking on the web. And now I've got your frequent flyer account.”

Once a hacker has your frequent flyer account, they can either sell the hacked account or transfer your miles into another account. To avoid this, you can enable two-factor authentication on your frequent flyer account and use a mobile boarding pass on the airline's app.
