Starting next month, Target customers will be able to walk in and find some of their favorite big-brand makeup products. Ulta Beauty announced that it will open its first beauty shops inside of Target which will feature a variety of items from more than 50 prestige brands for makeup, skin care and hair, including Clinique, Urban Decay, Tarte, MAC Cosmetics, Drybar, Jack Black and Ariana Grande. Target will also sell these products on its website.
Target will open more than 100 of these mini beauty shops inside of its stores by the end of the year, with plans to grow to a total of 800 shops over the next few years. Each beauty shop will be about 1,000 square feet, which is roughly one-tenth the size of a typical Ulta store.
Target just revealed the full list of initial Ulta mini shop locations and Target employees will be specially trained by Ulta to recommend beauty products. Customers will also be able to try on makeup products with testers, but keep in mind that this might be temporarily shelved due to the on-going pandemic. Ulta Beauty chief operating officer Kecia Steelman said the mini shops will have special displays and seasonal offerings, such as lotions or skincare products in the winter.
