The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilms just announced that the Han Solo movie in the Star Wars series has started filming. To add to the excitement, pictures of the star-studded cast have been released as well. Donald Glover is set to play a young Lando Calrissian, and Alden Ehrenreich will play Han Solo. Other celebrities like Emilia Clarke and “Westworld” actress Thandie Newton have also been reported to star in this feature film, but their roles have not been determined yet.
An official release of the film states, “The movie will explore the duo’s [Han and Chewbacca] adventures before the events of 'Star Wars: A New Hope,' including their early encounters with that other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian.”
Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have a lot to live up to since the release of Rogue One last December. But as directors of blockbuster films like 21 Jump Street and The Lego Movie, there is also a lot to look forward to with the next Star Wars movie installment.
The yet-to-be-named Han Solo movie is set to hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
