Applebee's Bartender Claims Their $1 Margaritas Are Mostly Water!

When Applebee’s announced that they would be offering $1 margaritas ALL OF OCTOBER everyone freaked out!

However a couple days into the deal, someone who claimed to be a bartender for the chain, took a video showing the margaritas being made with a surprising amount of water!!

The Instagram post shows the employee mixing up a big batch for the camera into a plastic bucket.

The restaurant looked into the video to make sure that customers were getting their dollars worth and a representative for Applebee’s told PEOPLE that the formula for using so much water is common when using such a concentrated mix like margarita mix.

They said in a statement, “We’re thrilled at our guests’ response to our Neighborhood Appreciation Drink. Bartenders can make it to order, but because the Dollarita is in such high demand, certain locations are making the $1 margarita in larger batches."

They continued, “Batching is commonplace in certain states when drinks are flying off the counter like the Dollarita. The official Dollarita is made with one-part, or 1 1/4 ounces, of tequila and three-parts margarita mix. Our margarita mix is a concentrate that requires it be cut with three-parts filtered water to one-part mix.”
