A football viewing party in California turned deadly when an altercation with party crashers left four people dead and six others wounded.
The incident occurred Sunday in the backyard of a Fresno home, where 35 people had gathered to watch the Rams-Bears game. "Everyone was watching football when unknown suspects approached the residence, snuck into the backyard and opened fire," said Fresno Police Lt. Bill Dooley.
While three people died on the scene and a fourth died after being taken to a nearby hospital, Dooley says. Of the injured, five were admitted to the hospital in critical condition, but all are expected to survive. The sixth victim received minor injuries in the attack, Dooley says.
Although investigators have yet to identify any suspects, on Monday Dooley revealed police believe the incident was "a targeted act of violence" that was carried out as vengeance for a previous incident.
