A Colorado woman has come up with a brilliant way to get back at porch pirates, while also getting her trash hauled away for free.

Colorado Springs resident Christine Hyatt says she has been putting her garbage in old Amazon boxes and setting them on her porch when they are full. Sure enough, they are almost always gone by the following day. "We forgot to set our trash out for Thanksgiving, so we were overflowing with trash," she said, recalling how she came up with the idea. "I've had packages stolen and I went, 'You know what? I have extra boxes, let's see if someone will take our trash!'"

Although Hyatt has set out a number of boxes which are usually filled with food scraps, cigarette butts, kitty litter and discarded wrappers since Thanksgiving, local thieves have not yet caught on to the deception. "My daughter told me that it was gross," she says. "But they deserve it."
