In what is being called the largest child wrongful death settlement in U.S. history, Ikea has agreed to pay $46 million to the parents of a boy who was killed when a dresser tipped over on him.

The settlement, reached today, comes two years after it was filed by California residents Joleen and Craig Dudek. Their 2 year old son Josef died after a dresser the couple had purchased from Ikea tipped over on him, crushing his neck and causing him to suffocate, according to the suit.

It is not the first time the Swedish furniture retailer has come under fire for selling unsafe furniture. At least 10 deaths have been attributed to dressers, specifically those manufactured by MALM, in recent years.
