The director of the CDC says coronavirus testing will be freely available, even to uninsured Americans, after being grilled on Capitol Hill on Thursday.

After California Rep. Katie Porter pressed CDC director Robert Redfield on the cost of testing, Redfield assured her that every citizen would be eligible to have their testing covered.

Earlier this week, President Trump said anyone with insurance would have copayments for testing waived. There have been reports of uninsured people in Seattle being charged as much as $1,600 for a coronavirus test.
