R. Kelly has asked a Chicago judge for an early jail release due to the Coronavirus.

A motion was filed on Thursday by Kelly’s lawyer, Steven Greenberg, asking for his release from Chicago Metropolitan Correctional Center.

Greenburg referred to the Bail Reform Act, which allows “temporary release” or a pretrial inmate if it’s determined necessary "for preparation of the person's defense or for another compelling reason."

The “compelling reason” is R. Kelly can’t meet with his lawyers due to the virus and with a recent surgery and his age, he is more likely to contract COVID-19. If released Kelly will live with Joycelyn Savage at the Roosevelt Collection Lofts apartment complex.
