Have you ever seen a blue moon before?! This year may be tough but at least we will have something pretty to look at. On October 31st, (yes Halloween)... there will be a blue moon in the sky!
A blue moon isn't considered a blue moon because of the color, but it's because of when it occurs. Full moons occur once a month, when 13 full moons occur in one year instead of 12, that means it's a blue moon.
There are two types of blue moons. One is when it's the second of two full moons in a calendar month or when it's third of four full moons in a single season. So, since October will have a full moon on the 1st and 31st, the last full moon is called a blue one!
