Teenager Killed in Cudahy Shooting Identified

CUDAHY (CNS) - A teenager was killed and another young male suffered a gunshot wound in a shooting Monday in a residential area of Cudahy next to the Los Angeles River.

The shooting occurred at 12:19 a.m. in the 5000 block of Live Oak Street, according to the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

Deputies arrived at the location and discovered two male juveniles suffering from gunshot wounds.

One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, sheriff's officials said.

He was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner as 14-year-old Javier Pedraza Jr.

The other victim was transported to a hospital in stable condition.

"Los Angeles County Sheriff's homicide investigators are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of male Hispanic juvenile and an assault with a deadly weapon of a second Hispanic juvenile," the sheriff's department said in a statement.

Sheriff's homicide detectives conducted a crime scene investigation, officials said.

There were no arrests, and investigators were conducting an ongoing investigation Monday afternoon.
