Dodger Stadium Will Transition To A Mass Vaccination Center Starting Friday

Here we go! City officials have announced that Dodger Stadium, the largest Coronavirus testing site in the country, will transition into the largest vaccination center starting as early as Friday. The site will be closed over the next few days to set up the new changes, in hopes of vaccinating approximately 12,000 people every day once the site is fully operational. L.A. Mayor Garcetti reiterated in a press release that “vaccines are the surest route to defeating this virus and charting a course to recovery, so the city, county, and our entire team are putting our best resources on the field to get Angelenos vaccinated as quickly, safely, and efficiently as possible.”.

So how can WE, us commoners and regular folk sign up? For now, the vaccine is still supposed to go to medical personnel and first responders, but officials do expect to provide more details soon. Reports say that those who would also be at the top of the include, in order as outlined by the state:

  • Individuals 75 and older
  • Those at risk of exposure at work in the following sectors: education, childcare, emergency service, and food and agriculture
  • Those at risk of exposure at work in the following sectors: transportation and logistics; industrial, commercial, residential, and sheltering facilities and services; critical manufacturing
  • Congregate in setting with outbreak risk: incarcerated and homeless people
  • Individuals 50-64 years of age
  • People 16-49 years of age who have an underlying health condition or disability that increases their risk of severe COVID-19
  • Those at risk of exposure at work in the following sectors: water and wastewater; defense; energy; chemical and hazardous materials; communications and IT; financial services; government operations / community based essential functions

L.A. County reported 166 new COVID-19 deaths and another 14,482 coronavirus cases Sunday, bringing the countywide total to 920,177 infections and 12,250 deaths. Let's hope the vaccines will make a HUGE DIFFERENCE in all of us getting our lives back sooner than later...please!
