Newsom Proposes $400 Debit Cards To Car Owners To Offset Gas Prices

As we know, gas prices have been SOARING...especially with Russia's war again the Ukraine. Governor Newsom to the rescue? He just announced a new $11 BILLION dollar proposal aimed at helping Californians that would include a $400 rebate for car owners AND free public transit for 3 months. According to ABC 7 News, the deal would offer all Californians with a registered vehicle, up to two vehicles per person, a $400 tax rebate on a debit card. That part of the plan, would cost $9 billion, which would be funded from the state budget surplus. He also proposed spending another $750 million in grants to incentivize public transit and rail agencies to give Californians free rides for three months. The Governor's office said Newsom is expected to meet with the Legislature to discuss the relief package. If approved, Californians could see payments by July. What do you think?
