It's been a tough week for die-hard Dodger fans and really just baseball fans in general, after sad news that long time, beloved Dodgers announcer Vin Scully had passed away Tuesday at the age of 94. Moments of silence took place at the Dodgers/Giants game while the boys in blue were in San Francisco. Other teams like the Los Angeles Angels observed a moment of silence in his honor as well. As of Wednesday's Dodgers/Giants game, a special 'tribute' Vin Scully patch was added to each Dodger players jersey. Fans knew that SOMETHING had to be in the works for a hometown tribute, once the team was back at Dodger Stadium and here it is:
The Dodgers will honor Vin Scully during a pregame ceremony at Dodger Stadium on Friday. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and be in their seats by 6:30 p.m. for the home game vs the San Diego Padres. No other details were announced, but no doubt the team will pull out all the stops in honor of this beloved man and broadcaster.
Fans also dropped off flowers on Hollywood Boulevard at Vin's star on the Walk of Fame near Hollywood’s infamous Musso & Frank's Restaurant. L.A. City Hall was lit up in blue to honor his memory as well. Social media feeds have been flooded with love for Vin since his passing too. If you can't make it to Friday's game, you can HEAR the tribute and get full game coverage on our sister station, the Dodgers station...AM 570 LA Sports.
