Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's Highest Peak, Now Has Wifi!

I meeeeeeean its it not on Instagram...did it even happen? Ha! This is really cool for hikers who mean business and want to share their journeys with the world LIVE! Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, just got Wifi! The new high-speed, fiber-optic network that is now set up, will let climbers access Wi-Fi up to 12,205 feet, (that's two-thirds of the way up the climb)...PRETTY COOL!

Nape Moses Nnauye, Tanzania's minister of information, communication and information technology, tweeted the announcement last week. The hope is to stretch that signal to the summit, which rises to 19,340 feet above sea level, by the end of the year.

Does the new Wifi on Mount Kilimanjaro inspire you to consider tacking the climb and sharing your journey with the world? Well FYI...it takes between five and tens days to hike it, depending on the route and the pace of the itinerary. A few brave record breakers have occasionally done it in just one day! Treks vary in length as well as duration. Who's down? 🙂
