Saving Thousands Of Unwanted Animals With Kitten Rescue

Kitten Rescue was founded in the spring of 1997 and has grown to be one of the largest and most respected animal welfare groups in Los Angeles. A non-profit, volunteer-run organization devoted to finding loving new homes for unwanted, homeless cats and kittens. Kitten Rescue volunteers place over 1,000 cats and kittens into homes every year. Since we began, we have rescued and placed over 17,000 cats (and counting!) into loving homes.

The core of what we do at Kitten Rescue is rescue, foster, care for, and adopt out cats and kittens. We do this to prevent them from dying on the streets or being euthanized at LA City Shelters. The cats and kittens are rescued from a variety of situations. Most live in our volunteers’ homes and are fostered there until we can find permanent homes for them. Some who need special care, are elderly, or are unlikely to be adopted live at the KR Cat Sanctuary.

Our volunteers care for all types of cats and kittens — orphaned and abandoned kittens that need to be bottle-fed around the clock, moms with litters, cats that need socialization, and sick or injured animals. The animals are cared for until they are old enough, healthy enough, and socialized enough, at which point our volunteers work to get them adopted into amazing, forever homes.

Between our three main components of Kitten Rescue — the KR Sanctuary, our new Kitten Nursery, and our foster network— Kitten Rescue cares for around 1,200 animals at any given time.

Kitten Rescue is currently building a Kitten Adoption Center , which will house up to 20 adoptable kittens at any given time and will expedite the adoption process, enabling us to free up space to save more kittens! Please Donate HERE.

Kitten Rescue is an Official Charity of the 2018 Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon for the 7th year in a row. The Los Angeles Marathon is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and we need YOUR help to make this the most successful year ever!

On March 17–18, 2018, a team of animal lovers will join together in three separate “Team Kitten Rescue” run teams to participate in The LA Big 5k, The Charity Challenge and The LA Marathon.
