IRS is warning of new text scams that are aimed at getting people to accept fake checks. People are getting text messages warning Americans about a text-message scam that is promising them fake stimulus checks.
The text reads "You have received a direct deposit of $1,200 from COVID-19 TREAS FUND" and offering a link to "accept this payment". If you click the link, it actually takes you to a fake IRS site that asks for your personal and bank account information.
