Three Southern California counties had the highest increase in COVID-19 cases nationwide in the week following Thanksgiving.
Health officials warned families that they should stay home but millions still chose to travel anyway and now many counties have reported a rise in COVID cases. Los Angeles County saw the second highest number of people in the county traveling 500 miles or more over he holiday week.
According to Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer, she stated "Should this be followed by another surge related to the winter holiday, the numbers of hospitalizations and patients in the ICU could be catastrophic."
