Looks like we'll have to wait BEYOND 2018 for the Avatar sequel!
Director James Cameron says he won't make the Christmas 2018 deadline for the release of Avatar 2. He says this is due to making the next 4 Avatars simultaneously.
So, prepare for multiple Avatar sequels coming out rapid fire style after 2018!
