The Best (And Worst) Moments At The MTV VMAs

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

For some artists, like Jennifer Lopez, Shawn Mendes and Cardi B, they were larger than life and enjoying every moment of the limelight at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards at the legendary Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

For others, it was a mess or some jokes didn't fly (see Madonna's "Aretha tribute" monologue).

Then there was the POWERFUL performance by LOGIC & Ryan Tedder and the message it sent about the current state of affairs in immigration and our administration.

Whatever the case, the MTV VMAs overall was, in a word, "meh". It got its worst ratings yet in history.

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

"Monday's show drew 2.25 million viewers and a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49. Across eight Viacom-owned channels, it drew 4.87 million viewers and a 2.2 in the demo; both sets of numbers fall short of the 2017 VMAs, which set the previous low."

My two favorite parts were Shawn's performance opening the show and JLo playing her greatest hits and showing the world who deserved that Michael Jackson Vanguard Award (which by the way, JLo was the FIRST LATIN artist to be a recipient of that award.)
