As COVID-19 cases surge with the omicron variant, the Los Angeles Unified School District announced that they will be requiring students and staff to get tested for coronavirus before returning to school from winter break on January 10th. Students and staff will be required to show proof of a negative test in order to return to school regardless of vaccination status.
Families can upload test results to a student’s “daily pass” account, and will be required to do so no later than Sunday. Weekly COVID testing will continue through the month for all students and employees. At-home rapid tests will be available for K-12 students and can be picked up Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at any LAUSD grab-and-go sites. Each student can get two self tests.
Masking is still required for students at all times both indoors and outdoors.
