Looking to get your teen involved in an innovative organization? Teens Leading Change (TLC) offers teenagers in the Los Angeles area various opportunities to contribute to their communities and create positive transformations in their neighborhoods through the library. This program aims to foster leadership and project management skills among teen participants, with the assistance of a teen services librarian. The primary focus of TLC is civic action projects, which are typically conducted from October to April. These projects are led by teenagers, with guidance from librarians who specialize in working with teens. For those unable to volunteer for a civic action project, there are additional TLC activities and events available throughout the year. The Teens Leading Change initiative is coordinated system-wide by the Teens Leading Change Committee.
